Two interesting events are going on a block apart on 14th Street in Denver this weekend: The Western Conservative Summit will be at the Colorado Convention Center. At the same time, 129 gay choruses and 45 ensembles have a festival at the Denver Performing Arts Center.

“While almost 7,000 members of LGBT choruses will be in Denver this weekend to spread harmony and come together as a community, Donald Trump and others will be across town projecting tone-deaf rhetoric on LGBT issues to divide our country and move us backwards,” said Laura “Pinky” Reinsch, political director for One Colorado,  the state’s leading advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Coloradans and their families.

“Luckily, we know Coloradans realize his words always fall flat. ”

The Western Conservative Summit is expected to draw more than 4,000 starting Friday morning, when . It ends on Sunday.

Registration for the just a few minutes before those speeches for a slate of performances and meetings that last through the next Wednesday night.

Single-performance tickets  for $25 each.
