A 32-year-old man was killed and a 54-year-old woman seriously injured in a fiery car collision early Friday morning in Brighton, authorities say.

Luis Alberto Archuleta Lopez, of Greeley, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck at Weld County Roads 27 and 4 in northern Brighton, according to a Brighton police news release. Hope Adame, 54, of Ft. Lupton, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Lopez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving east on Weld County Road 4 in a black 2000 Dodge Durango when he ran a stop sign at about 5:03 a.m. and broadsided a silver 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Adame, according to the release.

Adame had been driving south on Weld County Road 27 and had the right of way, officials say.

Both vehicles careened off the road. The Durango was on fire when police arrived.

Lopez worked at a nearby oil drilling rig.

Brighton police say the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Payne at 303-655-2300.
