The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office identified 19-year-old Haley Clarke of Bayfield as the victim of Sunday’s drowning at the Cascade waterfalls area near Ouray.

Authorities said Clarke’s body was removed from the canyon and two other stranded jumpers were rescued with assistance from the La Plata County Search and Rescue and the Durango Fire and Rescue Authority. The department posted that information on Facebook but did not specify when the rescues were made and refused to answer questions about them Monday.

The sheriff’s office to caution people against jumping near the waterfalls, calling the area “extremely dangerous” because of high water levels.
