Re: “,” July 4 news story.

The majority of my driving is in Boulder County and I ride my bike occasionally. While Boulder is the most bike-friendly place I’ve ever lived, and itap common sense that bikers and cars should respect each other for safety’s sake, I saw nothing in your article about the small minority of bikers who don’t practice safety or courtesy.

My biggest concern/annoyance is the bikers who ride two or three abreast with some outside the bike lane. And there are solo bikers who ride the line or outside of it.

Most drivers keep a safe distance to pass bikers. Sometimes there is oncoming traffic with a driver doing the same thing with bikers in his lane, causing a close call for all as the bikes are passed by the cars.

I think that road bikers could take a lesson from mountain bikers who are generally more courteous to hikers on trails. Please, road bikers, you have a dedicated lane. Stay inside it and don’t ride the line or ride two or three abreast unless you can all fit inside that line.
