Denver’s coroner has identified the man fatally wounded Sunday in the city’s Ruby Hill neighborhood.

Kurt Gillotte, 45, died of a gunshot wound, and his death has been ruled a homicide, the city’s medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.

Gillotte was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting happened about 11:15 a.m. on the 1100 block of South Pecos Street. Responding officers found Gillotte dead and a woman in critical condition with several gunshot wounds.

Authorities said Tuesday that she remains in critical condition.

Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said Tuesday afternoon he did not immediately have an update on the case to provide. Investigators have not said what the circumstances of the shooting were.

“Investigators are still working on this,” Schepman said. “They’re not a place where they are comfortable discussing the context.”
