A motorcyclist died after she was struck by an SUV making a turn on Gartrell Road in Aurora on Thursday morning.

The woman was going south on Gartrell at about 8:30 a.m., when the Lexus sports utility vehicle, driven by another woman, turned from the northbound lanes of the road to reach an on-ramp for westbound E-470, said Aurora police Sgt. Mark Elliot.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“The driver remained on scene, as did a witness, and at this time, drugs, alcohol, speed, do not appear to be a factor,” Elliot said.
