Boulder County sheriff’s deputies are warning motorists who filled up at a Conoco gas station on West Maple Street in Superior to check credit card and bank statements for unauthorized activity.
The warning comes after workers at the station on Thursday discovered the information-skimming devices on two of the pumps during routine maintenance.
It’s unclear how long the devices have been in place, deputies said. The devices were located inside the pay-at-the-pump consoles, which can only be accessed with a key, they said. Skimming devices are typically placed on the exterior of ATM, gasoline pump and other publicly accessible card readers.
Anyone finding suspicious card charges or account withdrawals is asked to contact deputies at 303-441-4444.
Anyone with information about the skimming devices is asked to contact a sheriff’s detective at 303-441-4763, or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
