A motorcycle rider died in a crash near Clear Creek Canyon Saturday morning.
Trooper Alisha Danko, a spokeswoman for the Colorado State Patrol, said the crash was reported at 11:34 a.m. after the motorcycle struck a guardrail.
The motorcycle, a 2011 Kawasaki, appears to have been traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 6 near mile marker 257 when the crash occurred.
No other vehicles appear to be involved, Danko said. The rider of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet, but still died after being thrown from the motorcycle.
Both directions of the highway were still closed after 1 p.m. while troopers investigated what might have caused the crash.
