Although the furry wedding crasher provided unexpected excitement for 140 guests July 4 at Wedgewood on Boulder Creek, a wedding venue located at the site of the former Red Lion Inn, the bear was not a stranger. “He generally comes to all our weddings,” said Paige Lorenzen, general manager at Wedgewood on Boulder Creek, 38470 Boulder Canyon Drive.
The wedding-crashing bear was one of 26 bear reports in Boulder County since April 26. Other incidents include 40 chickens killed in a coop and a “steer missing” from a residence on Gray Mountain Drive in Lyons; bee hives and bird feeders raided at Estes Park Estates in Lyons; a bear entering a kitchen through an open window on Timber Lane in Pinebrook Hills and a bear in the dumpster at the Foot of the Mountain Motel on Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder and more.
