Fire officials were expecting to have the Lodgepole fire, south of Leadville, which started Saturday in the San Isabel National Forest, fully contained Sunday, said National Forest Service spokesman Gregg Goodland.

The 16-acre fire burning at the base of Mount Elbert on Forest Road 136 was reported at 2:37 p.m. Saturday, according to the Forest Service.

The blaze was 50 percent contained at 10 a.m. Sunday. “But we had a little spot fire that picked up earlier this morning.”

The fire was burning in grass, sagebrush, logging slash and Lodgepole pine, according to Forest Service fact sheet.

The forest service and Bureau of Land Management were working with units from Leadville/Lake County Fire, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake County Office of Emergency Management and Chaffee County Fire.
