A body found at a remote Conejos County campground in late June has been identified as a Monte Vista man reported missing in late May.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says the remains found June 23 are that of 52-year-old Jeffory Calvert.

Authorities say Calvert’s remains were found at the Alamosa Campground, about 10 miles west of Colorado 15 on Forest Road 250. The area is along the banks of the Alamosa River.

The cause of death has not been determined, CBI said.

Investigators say they would like to speak to anyone who camped in the are between May 29 and 31. Those with information are asked to call Rio Grande Sheriff’s Deputy Havens at (719) 850-8452 or CBI Agent Crouch at (719) 250-4767.

Human remains off Forest Road 250 in Conejos County on July 6, about four miles west of Colorado 17. The spot, in Conejos Canyon, is near where Joe Keller, a teen from Tennessee, went missing in 2015.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the remains and determine the person’s cause of death, which can take up to three months. Keller was 19  while jogging with a friend.
