A man who earlier this year led police on a high-speed chase ending in Thornton is now running from law enforcement again.
Adan Quiriarte-Jara, 22, was out on bond awaiting trial on multiple charges, including vehicular assault, when he let his ankle monitor power off and die.
Now the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding Quiriarte-Jara.
Prosecutors who charged the man say Quiriarte-Jara stole a pickup truck that had been left with the engine running one weekday morning.
The owner helped police track the vehicle with information from a GPS inside the truck and police started a high-speed chase, but called it off for safety concerns. The truck was soon located when it crashed at the intersection of 84th Avenue and Washington Street. Police chased the driver on foot and arrested Quiriarte-Jara about a block away.
One person was seriously injured in the crash.
Court records show Quiriarte-Jara was wanted on an active warrant for drug charges when he led police on the chase.
He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the chase charges next week, but court records show the new warrant was issued Thursday.
Anyone with information about Quiriarte-Jara’s location is asked to call their local police.
