The police announced Friday afternoon that they had taken Angel Chavez, 27, into custody. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the Montbello area just before 3 p.m.

Chavez was convicted of child abuse in 2008 and sentenced to 20 years with the possibility of parole, according to CourtLink. He is currently on parole, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections.

The deaths were reported on the 5500 block of North Revere Street. Both victims were adults, police say.

“We were called out on a deceased party in the house,” said Christine Downs, a police spokeswoman.

Downs declined to say what the genders are of the two people pending their family’s notification of their deaths.

Investigators did not release further information in the case and a police spokeswoman said details were not immediately available.
