Re: July 17 news story.

I very much enjoyed your story about Kendal Unruh and her campaign to block Donald Trump’s nomination at the Republican National Convention. However, I found myself aghast at the description of America’s republican form of government as “debatable.” There is nothing debatable about it, and Ms. Unruh described a republic very well — it is “representative government.”

I suppose one could term our nation a “democratic republic” or a “republican democracy,” but a republic it is, no matter what one might call it. Indeed, the one thing the Founders feared most was a pure democracy.

Of course, almost anything is, strictly speaking, debatable. If The Post insists on following this line, I hope you will continue to use the “debatable” modifier before other generally accepted concepts — the debatable notion of evolution or the debatable notion of inalienable rights, for example.
