
The 81-year-old woman that left a 14-year-old boy dead has died.
Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney’s Office, said Patricia Livingston died over the weekend.
“As a result, the case against her will be dismissed,” Kimbrough .
The city’s medical examiner’s office said Livingston died Saturday at Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center after a brief hospitalization.
Officials said Tuesday her cause of death was from complications of blunt force injuries. The medical examiner said Livingston’s death followed her “originally (being) involved” in the crash.
Livingston was suspected of careless driving resulting in death and careless driving resulting in injury for the July 13 wreck that left and his 13-year-old friend hurt. Police said early last week that she remained hospitalized as of July 18.

“She served on our board of trustees from 1982 until just earlier this year,” Theresa Ahrens, a university spokeswoman, said last week. “She was a trustee until the end of June.”
Ahrens said as of June 30, Livingston was an honorary trustee for life. During her active time with the university, which came after serving as a trustee for Colorado Women’s College before it merged with DU, Livingston served on a variety of boards and committees, Ahrens said.

The July 13 collision has had far-reaching resonance in the city, clashing together two families with deep ties in the community and raising questions . Cole was set to begin eighth grade at the Slavens School and was looking forward to following in his older brother’s footsteps at Littleton High School.
Livingston’s family had taken precautions to limit Livingston’s driving after she , a family spokesman said.
Police say Livingston hit Cole near the intersection of South Madison Street and East Yale Way.
