Longmont city officials say they’ll cover several red swastikas Thursday that were painted over gang-related graffiti on a fence near 15th Avenue and Centennial Drive — the second Nazi-related graffiti reported in recent weeks.

But one neighbor is not happy about how long it’s taken the city to respond to his calls about the graffiti.

Jeffrey Justice said he cycles past 15th and Centennial regularly and noticed the gang-style graffiti a few weeks ago. He added that he called city code enforcement and the city’s graffiti hotline several times, but never heard back.

He said he eventually contacted his city councilman, and some of the graffiti — he reported it in more than one location — was removed.

But the last straw came when he rode past that location Tuesday and saw the swastikas painted over the gang graffiti.
