SXSW award winning Austin band Bright Lights Social Club took the stage and exclaimed “Bright Light Social Hour, m*tha*s!” And we were ready to rock. Well…aggressively sway. Except that one high girl. She was rocking out.

Bright has a Lynyrd Skynyrd feel with a funky jam band twist. With long hair and scruffy beards these guys came to play. Hard. They infused their songs with electronic elements making for an intriguing sound.

The sun slowly setting was the perfect backdrop to the bands newest song “Smoke Weed Until You Die” which, of course, is a working title. The song absolutely kept true to their sometimes soft sound and take me right to bed vocals.

Their songs have a surreal, dreamlike, Steve Miller component. And because something makes it impossible for a large portion of Colorado people to dance before dark, The Bright Light Social Hour was the perfect segue into a night of debauchery and hardcore swaying.
