A Byers man was sentenced to two years of probation and 50 hours of community service Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to firing buckshot that struck an airborne ultralight aircraft.
, 50, also must complete an anger management course in cognitive thinking and victim empathy, according to a news release from Sue Lindsay, spokeswoman for the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.
Urban was sentenced shortly after he pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal discharge of a firearm. The charge means that Urban cannot possess firearms.
James Johnson, 50, was flying over his cornfield near East 64th Avenue and Calhoun Byers Road on Sept. 1, 2015 in his ultralight aircraft when he was hit by shotgun pellets.
