The week begins with fog thick enough to prompt the National Weather Service to issue a dense fog advisory Sunday for the Denver area.

The fog is expected to burn off by 10 a.m., said Jim Kalina, NWS meteorologist.

The temperature will top out in the mid-80s, and scattered thunderstorms are expected Sunday afternoon, Kalina said.

The mercury is expected to hit 88 degrees Monday with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Temperatures will climb into the low 90s on Tuesday; the chance of storms is expected to drop to 10 percent.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 90 degrees.
