A garbage truck caught fire inside a private garbage collection company’s garage on Saturday night.

South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a 911 report from someone who noticed smoke coming from the roof of the building on Dransfeldt Road, said Eric Hurst, a South Metro spokesman.

Firefighters found the vehicle burning inside and extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes. “They started the attack from the exterior, and when it was safe, went in and extinguished it,” Hurst said.

The truck is the property of The Garbage Man, which had vehicles inside and outside the garage, Hurst said.

There was no indication that the fire was caused by arson, Hurst said, but an investigation continues.
