
Several trails below an area of new trail construction in the Bear Creek Watershed in southern Colorado will be temporarily closed for public safety.
This trail construction is part of the . Trail construction began in August and will continue through the fall to make a new multi-use trail on lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service and El Paso County.
The Pikes Peak Ranger District of the Pike-San Isabel National Forest announced the trail closures in a news release Tuesday, citing the steep slopes in the “area and potential for large rocks and materials rolling downhill.”
The closure will affect the FS Trail 720 (Foresters Cutoff) and FS Trail 668 (Pipeline) in mid- to late August. Later there will be a trail closure for several weeks on FST 622 (Seven Bridges Trail) Sept. 5 through Sept.16. Additional closures may be needed as the project continues.
