An Adams County sheriffs’ deputy has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested in Denver last week on suspicion of attacking his wife, authorities said Monday.

Deputy Dean Dominguez, 42, was arrested Wednesday by the Denver Police Department in the city’s Northeast Park Hill neighborhood, according to the county sheriff’s office and court documents.

A probable cause statement says Dominguez’s wife of eight years told investigators the two got into an argument that turned physical. She said Dominguez grabbed, pushed, tripped and then pinned her on the ground, according to the statement.

“As the victim was pinned, the defendant proceeded to slam the victim’s head on the floor of the front family room,” the statement says.

The sheriff’s office did not make further details in the case public and declined to release Dominguez’s employment history.
