Commerce City police are investigating after someone fired a rifle or pellet gun into the Emergency Medical Service ambulance station, according to Cmdr. Robert Thomas.

Someone fired either a .22-caliber round or a pellet through a front door at 3975 E. 56th Ave., Thomas said.

Police believe the projectile was fired over the weekend, but they can’t identify it because they have yet to find it.

“This is definitely suspicious, but we don’t think this is any type of situation where the community or the fire department needs to be alarmed,” Thomas said.

“No one was present at the time,” Thomas said. “Kids could have been playing, or someone fired a round and it just went in that direction. If someone would have wanted to bring harm, they would have shot several rounds.”
