More than 30,000 Colorado students signed up for Vail Resorts’ first-ever , undoubtedly fueling the resort operator’s industry-rattling record sales of more than half a million Epic Passes.

The free Epic SchoolKids passes deliver school-age kids four free days of skiing at each of Vail Resorts’ Colorado hills — Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. The passes for kids from kindergarten through fifth grade are available through Oct. 9 and require in-person registration at the Front Range’s Colorado Ski & Golf, Colorado Ski & Sport and Boulder Ski Deals locations.

Vail Resorts is aiming to hook young kids on skiing early, building not just a future generation of pass buyers but persuading their parents into buying the $809 Epic Pass. With single-day lifts tickets pushing beyond $150 at most Vail Resorts hills, it becomes cheaper to buy a pass if you want to ski with your free kid. Itap a moneymaking strategy for $Vail Resorts, which in the number of early Epic Pass sales and a 34 percent increase in dollars for 2016-17 season passes.

The Epic SchoolKids passes include a free lesson in December and January for first-time skiers. Click over to  for more info.
