Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump speaks on Aug. 15 in Youngstown, Ohio.

In a speech Monday on foreign policy, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called for the “extreme vetting” of immigrants seeking admission to the United States.

Advocating for an “ideological screening test,” Trump said, “We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people.”

Trump has made stricter immigration measures a key to defeating the Islamic State.
