NPR Wednesday that, as of next week, it will no longer allow public comments on stories on its website.

According to NPR, “the comment sections on NPR.org stories are not providing a useful experience for the vast majority of our users,” citing much greater user engagement on other platforms such as social media.

Boulder’s Daily Camera   on its comment sections earlier this year, saying that “comments are dominated by a small group of people, most posting anonymously, and who, frankly, tend to simply shout down or ridicule any opposing view.”
