
U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner is putting his money behind Republican Darryl Glenn’s bid to join him in Washington.
The Republican lawmaker’s leadership PAC will host a fundraiser Wednesday for Glenn’s U.S. Senate campaign at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver. Gardner is the eventap “special guest.”
The top donors are expected to donate $2,700 and the minimum contribution to attend is $250, according to an invite.
Gardner soon after the El Paso County commissioner won the party’s five-way primary and promised to support his bid. He is a notable supporter given drawing huge support from the party establishment.
Project West PAC, Gardner’s political action committee, has donated $268,000 to Senate and House candidates seeking election this cycle, according to the . The largest beneficiaries are North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr ($15,000) and U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez ($12,500). Another 18 candidates, including U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Aurora, have received $10,000 from Gardner’s PAC.
Glenn to run a competitive race against Democrat Michael Bennet, who is using his war chest to run constant television advertising that promotes his accomplishments in office.
Glenn reported $119,000 in his campaign account as of July 1, according to federal campaign finance filings. Bennet reported $6 million.
