Interview with Lorry Hanson, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
:We played a lot of team sports, and there were no bars or restaurants that catered to big groups. There was a definite need, so a friend and myself took a chance and opened the first sports bar in Aurora. The rest is history.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:Most of our staff has been with us for years and years, as well as most of our customers. Anyone can walk through our front door and feel welcome within minutes. They will be greeted by our friendly staff and customers.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:Our customers. We truly have some of the best and some of the most giving and caring customers around. It’s just one big, happy family around here.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:Keeping up with the trends. Whether it be the latest in shots, drinks or even food. Not to mention social media.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:We are not just a sports bar with lots of televisions and pool tables. We consistently have some of the best food around due to our longtime kitchen staff. Over the years, we have raised more than $100,000 through our annual fundraisers for The Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as the ARC of Aurora.
