It will be sunny and warm on Sunday and Monday, but cooler weather is heading to Colorado before temperatures climb again, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature on Sunday in Denver is expected to be 87 degrees, with 88 on Monday. “The only place that we might see showers is down by Fairplay and South Park area,” said Mike Baker, NWS forecaster.

But a storm that is building over the desert Southwest will come into Colorado late Tuesday night, and could bring thunderstorms through Wednesday.

A cold front coming down from Montana on Tuesday is expected to bring temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Thursday temperatures will begin to rebound, with a high of 75 degrees.

“By Friday, its back into the 80s. It is not unusual to see these systems as we get into the later part of the summer. We start seeing these systems coming out of the north and bringing in these little shots of cooler air. We’re not out of summer weather yet, but we’re starting to see the first glimpse of the change,” Baker said.
