Emergency crews work at the scene of an accident Monday night in east Loveland that killed two people.

A car crash late Monday killed two people when a pickup driving the wrong way on U.S. 34 collided with a compact car, Loveland Police Department officials said.

The crash occurred about 10:08 p.m. on U.S. 34 near the entrance to Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital.

According to Loveland Police Chief Bob Ticer, who joined first responders at the scene of the crash, a driver of a pickup was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of U.S. 34 when the pickup struck the compact car traveling westbound in the passing lane.

There were no passengers in either of the vehicles. The names of the victims have not been released pending the notification of family members.
