So often these days we hear people complaining that our elected officials have no principles. Routt County Treasurer Brita Horn has plenty of principles, and backbone too!
Horn’s reason for rejecting a partial payment of overdue taxes from Peabody Energy was eloquently stated:
“By law, if my office can’t offer a tax break to a single mom who worries about feeding her children, I’m not going to offer one to a multi-national corporation that just asked the bankruptcy court to pay its executives $12 million in bonuses.”
Routt County should be very proud of its treasurer.
