Minor to moderate flooding was reported Tuesday night in areas around the burn scar in Fremont County.
The county sheriff’s office posted pictures to its Facebook page showing water, sludge and debris covering roadways.
“All homes in the flood area are intact and all (residents) are safe,” the sheriff’s office said.
Officials have been worried about flooding in areas below the burn scar since the fire exploded to thousands of acres after being sparked on July 8 by a lightning strike. The community of Coaldale sits below the area off U.S. 50.
Flooding in El Paso County caused significant damage in Manitou Springs and remains a major concern for the area.
The Hayden Pass fire is still burning on 16,562 acres and was 60 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Lawrence Lujan, a forest service spokesman, said the cost to date of the blaze has been $10.3 million.
