An Eagle County woman has been sentenced to three years in community corrections — a step below prison — for shooting at her then-boyfriend last summer, prosecutors say.
Jennifer Clark, 42, of Avon, was convicted of felony menacing with a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and prohibited use of a weapon. The 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says her sentence was handed down Monday.
“Authorities say in August 2015, Clark got into a verbal dispute with her boyfriend, at which point he left their apartment. Clark followed him outside and fired a .40-caliber handgun at the man before fleeing the scene, according to prosecutors.
“After Monday’s sentencing, we are glad to put an end to this violent act of domestic violence,” District Attorney Bruce Brown said in a statement. The extraordinary violence of firing a gun at an unarmed person is just crazy and deserving of a significant loss of liberty.”
