Vanessa H. Larson’s Washington Post review of the movie “A Tale of Love and Darkness” was unfair and ignorant. In truth, it is a wonderful movie. Larson’s assertion that Natalie Portman’s directorial debut fell flat could not be further from the truth. If Portman does not get an Academy Award for this movie, either as an actress or as a director, that would be most unjust. Her portrayal of a woman suffering from severe mental illness, amidst the upheaval of historic events and war, was honest, accurate and brilliant. I urge your readers to see this brilliant film.
