Parking, traffic and tailgating information for CU Buffs vs. CSU Rams

The University of Colorado Buffaloes take on the Colorado State Rams at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Friday night. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for the game.

Parking: Lots are mostly segregated with CSU occupying the northwest lots and CU parking in the southwest lots. Parking lots open at 2 p.m. and typically sell out by 4 p.m. due to limited capacity. Fees are $25, cash only. Cars will not be allowed to line up before 1:30 p.m. Fans arriving at 4 p.m. or later are asked to park at the Pepsi Center, the Auraria Campus or other overflow. Fans parking in the surrounding neighborhoods without the appropriate permits will be cited and towed.

Tailgating policies: Fans are asked to occupy one parking spot per vehicle and to tailgate directly behind their vehicle or in adjacent landscaped areas, such as grass hills or gravel islands. Keep 14 feet clear between rows for through traffic. Barbecue grills are allowed, but fans are asked to dispose of charcoal in designated coal barrels. Tailgate parties must end by 5 p.m.

The Rocky Mountain Showdown returns on Saturday, September 16, 2023, to Folsom Field in Boulder. This is the 92nd meeting between the Colorado State Rams and the University of Colorado Buffaloes. The No. 18 Buffs look to take a sixth straight win and their 10th in the teams' last 11 meetings. Not allowed: Box trucks, glass bottles, kegs and open flame fires are not permitted in stadium lots. No blocking or saving parking spaces. Don’t block sidewalks or disabled access aisles. No selling or distributing products, food or beverages.

Traffic: High traffic is expected around the stadium. Motorists are advised to plan out routes, avoid high-traffic roads or to take public transit, carpool or ride a bicycle if possible. Colfax Ave and Interstate 25 are the highest-trafficked routes. Suggested secondary routes include West Eighth Avenue to Zuni Street and West Sixth Avenue to Federal Boulevard.

Public Transit: RTD has a number of bus and rail options. Check or call 303-299-6600 for more information.

Ride-sharing: For fans who are taking Uber, Lyft or other ride-sharing options, a designated pickup location has been established at Federal Boulevard and 17th Avenue.

Security: Premium gates open at 4 p.m. Public gates open at 4:30 p.m. CU students enter through Gate 9, CSU students enter through Gate 5. Fans must have clear bags. Metal detectors will be in use.

Tickets: Tickets to the game can be purchased through CU, CSU, Ticketmaster or on secondary sites such as StubHub, with prices ranging from $35 to $250 per seat.
