Boy asks for finders fee when stolen car returns damaged

A car for $10. Someone stole a woman’s car while it was parked in front of her home in the 100 block of North Kenton Street on Aug. 10. The car was returned to its parking spot with some damage. A neighbor boy asked the victim for $10 because he said he found the car and returned it. She refused to pay because she believes he stole it in the first place.

Crashing through the window. A man who lives in the 2800 block of South Ursula Street heard a loud noise downstairs Aug. 17, but he thought something just fell over. In fact, someone tried to come into the man’s house through a window, but they broke the wooden shutters and fled.

Change scam. Two men bought $15 worth of ice cream from the Cold Stone Creamery at 23973 E. Prospect Avenue and paid with a $100 bill Aug 15. The pair argued with the cashier about how much money she owed them until she accidentally gave them $40 too much. They got away.

Milk thief. Someone stole a man’s milk from his porch Aug. 16. The victim has the milk delivered to his home in the 19500 block of East Purdue Circle. There are no suspects.

Neighborhood break ins. Several homes in the 3800 block of Hannibal Street had their front doors kicked in Aug. 11. At one home in the area, suspects took about $1,000 worth of jewelry.

Tagging the ground. On Aug. 14, a woman took a picture of a man spray painting the word “savage” on the ground under the pavilion at Wheel Park, 2500 S. Wheel Park Circle. The suspect ran off before officers arrived.
