Nearly three years after construction began, Castle Rock Parkway saw the first vehicles roll across its smooth new surface Thursday morning.
The 2-mile road, which was dubbed the North Meadows Extension while it was being built, . Traffic engineers expect the road to provide long-sought relief at the heavily used Meadows/Founders Parkway bridge over I-25 as some motorists opt to use the new exit to access the popular Outlets at Castle Rock.
The $85.7 million project broke ground in October 2013 and ranks as the Douglas County town’s largest transportation project ever.
