A female motorcyclist died in an early morning crash Thursday in Fort Collins, police say.

The wreck happened about 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of Timberline Road and Mountain Vista Drive. Police say a Yamaha motorcycle was moving at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a stop sign, traveling off the north side of the roadway and colliding with a sign.

“The female operator was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries where she later died,” Fort Collins police said in a news release. “The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the operator upon notification of family.”

An investigation into the wreck remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked by Fort Collins police to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
