A former St. Vrain Valley School District bus driver arrested last year on DUI, vehicular-assault and child-abuse charges following a crash west of Lyons pleaded guilty in Boulder District Court on Wednesday to careless driving.

Boulder prosecutors dropped 13 other charges against Elizabeth Burris, 40, and she faces a year of unsupervised probation.

Deputy District Attorney Lisa Saccomano said in court that the Colorado State Patrol had the findings of a drug-recognition expert who examined Burris following the crash reviewed by an outside agency that didn’t agree with the original conclusion.
