Like college football season, campaign season never really ends, but it officially kicks off with Labor Day. Wednesday, state Sen. Morgan Carroll released her first TV ad, called, “Why I’m Running.”
“I’m running because Congress is broken, and you deserve better,” Carroll says in the 30-second spot, hailing her bid for the 6th Congressional District seat representing the east metro Denver region.
“She makes no mention of her opponent, four-term incumbent Republican Mike Coffman, who has had videos out for weeks, particularly one in which he pledged to .
Carroll’s campaign said in statement the spot will air on broadcast TV as part of an ad buy of at least $1.4 million.
“We are extremely excited to kick off our first ad of this cycle,” campaign manager Jenny Donovan said in a statement Wednesday morning. “Morgan’s story is the story of thousands of people in this district, and that’s why they know that, when elected, she’ll fight for them in Washington to deliver real results on education, jobs, and veteran’s issues. The voters of this district recognize that they need someone in Congress who understands them, and we’re going to see the results of that this November.”
Coffman’s campaign reacted to the ad Wednesday.
“Morgan Carroll’s ad is remarkable not for what it says but what it doesn’t,” said campaign spokeswoman Cinamon Watson. “She says she started a business with her mother. She doesn’t say she’s a personal injury trial lawyer.
“She doesn’t say that her tenure in the state senate was marked by charges of conflict of interest. She says she supports small business. She doesn’t say she received , just like you would expect of a personal injury lawyer.”
