Doug Baldwin, a wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, took to Twitter last Friday to defend the recent protests by Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks’ rival.
Kaepernick has been criticized for not standing for the national anthem before games, saying he is protesting racial oppression in the United States. Critics have suggested Kaepernick is disrespecting the American flag and the nation’s military.
In his tweetstorm, Baldwin suggests those who are offended by Kaepernick’s protest are missing the point — and reinforcing it. Following is Baldwin’s series of tweets.
