Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas underwent an MRI on his hip Friday and, according to ESPN, is expected to seek a second opinion.

While it’s not unusual for players to get second opinions on injuries, Thomas could miss time depending on the severity. The Broncos return to practice Monday.

Thomas is believed to have injured his hip on the Broncos’ second drive against Carolina last Thursday, when he leapt for an 6-yard reception and was brought down by cornerback James Bradberry along the right sideline.

Thomas knelt with his hands on his hips before slowly getting up and walking to the sideline, where the Broncos’ head athletic trainer, Steve Antonopulos, came over to check on him.

Thomas returned to the game and played 44 snaps (76 percent of the team’s offensive plays) and caught four of six targets for 48 yards.
