Police investigate following the discovery of a body near Ohio and Cherokee streets in Denver Sept. 13, 2016.A person who was on train tracks in southwest Denver was struck and early Tuesday morning, officials say.
The identity and gender of the victim has not been released.
The mixed-load train just leaving Denver on its way to Pueblo when it struck the pedestrian in an area that was not at a crossing at 5:21 a.m., said Joe Sloan, train company spokesman.
“We don’t know if it was intentional or an accident,” Sloan said.
He said police will determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
Police responded to an emergency call in the area of Cherokee Street and Ohio Avenue, Denver police spokesman John White said.
Police completed their investigation and released the train to complete its trip to Pueblo at 9 a.m., Sloan said.
