Video compression, parking, design and auto sales make Denver’s 2016 ‘Gazelles’ list

The city of Denver to its list of “Denver Gazelles,” which signifies businesses with the most potential to add economic growth for the region. The sextet has already raised $124 million in venture capital or other private investment, and have added hundreds of jobs to the region.

, which employs 24 in a new office in the Denver Tech Center, started business in 2011 to work on projects for the military. But along the way, it realized it developed an algorithm that could change the future of streaming video. Its technology can shrink HD video on the fly or do the opposite, and enhance low-resolution video to HD-like quality.  Its first product, illumin8, is expected to launch soon. The company has raised more than $5 million from investors.

Other gazelles include:

  • that helps people take a picture of their car and get all the necessary information to list it for sale. The founders are auto-industry veterans and have raised $35 million from investors to date.
  • , a cloud-based application service, has raised $13 million.
  • , which virtually connects interior designers with consumers, has raised $13.2 million. The company also launched its first app this week.
  • , which puts sensors in parking garages so consumers can use an app to see where parking spaces are available, has raised $9.5 million.
  • , which helps businesses with their e-mails to customers, recently moved its headquarters to Denver, from Boulder. The company has raised $47.5 million in venture capital and is planning an IPO.
