Both Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin reported snow overnight Wednesday as the race to open between the two Loveland Pass resorts ramps up.

“Last night was very stormy around here. The snow line dropped to base area level,” Alan Henceroth, A-Basin’s chief operation officer, .

“All around the enthusiasm for the coming winter is rising. A few more weeks…………..”

Loveland released images Thursday morning of a dusting of snow on their ski area, saying snowmaking at the resort is about 15 days away.

Loveland hopes to open sometime mid-to-late October. While A-Basin hasn’t announced when it plans to begin allowing skiers and snowboarders on its slopes, the ski area typically opens abot the same time.

A-Basin closed on June 12 and Loveland ceased its winter operations on May 8.

Cooper Mountain and Keystone Resort also reported snow overnight Wednesday.
