Firefighters have achieved 20 percent containment of a “slow-moving” grass fire burning on private land north of Lyons, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

The fire is burning in the area of 22000 Dakota Ridge Road, and no structures were threatened as of noon today, Boulder County sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Wagner said.

The Dakota Ridge Fire is once again estimated to be about 25 acres in size, sheriff’s officials said. That was the original estimate when the fire was reported around 10:15 a.m. today, but crews on scene later revised it to being between 10 and 15 acres in size.

Larimer County sheriff’s spokesman David Moore said a multi-mission aircraft has been ordered to fly over and better assess the area.

Emergency notifications were sent at around 10:45 a.m. to eight devices — not homes — in the area, alerting people to be ready to evacuate if necessary.
