A man has pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder, prosecutors announced Tuesday, and faces up to 32 years in prison.
Adrian Brandon Moya, 24, admitted to the charge Monday, the Adams County district attorney’s office said.
Moya shot the officer multiple times during a traffic stop Dec. 19, authorities say. It happened after two Northglenn officers pulled over a car in which Moya, who was wanted on a felony warrant, was riding in as a passenger.
Prosecutors say Moya attempted to flee and shot at officers as they pursued him. The officer who was shot .
“The officer shot back at Moya, hitting him multiple times,” the district attorney’s office said Tuesday. “Moya was treated for his wounds and arrested”
Moya faces a stipulated sentence of 20 to 32 years, according to a plea agreement. He is scheduled to find out his penalty at a Nov. 18 sentencing.
