Former NFL player named CEO of Broomfield-based Famous Brands

The Broomfield-based parent company of and has named former its new chief executive officer.

Lyman, who played for the Bears from 2000 to 2005, joined Famous Brands International in 2013 as director of finance. Most recently, he served as the company’s chief financial officer, overseeing investments in store-level improvements, addition of locations in key markets, streamlining of supply chain contracts, expansion of direct-to-consumer business and a revamp of the company’s e-commerce sites.

“Dustin has been an integral part of creating and executing Famous Brands’ strategic vision over the last several years, and I am pleased he will be taking on additional responsibilities in his new role as CEO,” James Zenni, CEO of  said in a statement. “Importantly, Dustin’s strong leadership abilities and management philosophy have resonated with franchisees, licensees and business partners who share his belief that great success is achieved through teamwork.”

Before joining Famous Brands, Lyman held finance positions at Vail Resorts and Dish Network. A Boulder native, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.

“I am excited to assume the role of chief executive officer of Famous Brands and look forward to continuing to build upon the strong foundation we have put in place,” Lyman said in a statement. “Mrs. Fields Cookies and TCBY are two of America’s most iconic consumer brands, and I am thrilled about the opportunities we plan to leverage as we continue growing.”
