Multiple traffic accidents, including a rollover crash with serious injuries, Friday evening on I-25 in Douglas County brought heavy traffic to a standstill.
The rollover crash, which involved a trash truck, happened at about 5:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near the Greenland interchange, according to the Colorado State Patrol. A medical helicopter, which landed on a secure stretch of the highway, transported a person injured in the crash to a local hospital.

Another traffic accident, also in the northbound lanes, involving two vehicles happened just minutes earlier between Plum Creek and Larkspur, the state patrol said.
The highway, which was shut down northbound, was backed up for miles in both directions. Alternate routes included Colorado 83 and Colorado 105.
Delays on I-25, from Castle Rock to Colorado Springs, were extensive.

Douglas County was put on accident alert because of the massive incident.
Debris — roofing shingles — on the highway from the rollover crash had to be removed by highway crews using heavy equipment.
