Two small grass fires near U.S. 285 in Lakewood were completely contained at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Several callers passing the scene reported the fires near the Simms Street ramp about 1:30 p.m., said Jenny Fulton, sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Two westbound lanes of 285 were closed between Simms and Kipling Street. Shortly after 3 p.m., the state Department of Transportation said that one lane had reopened and one remained closed.
The State Patrol and Lakewood police were assisting.
